Wednesday Review – Interactive History

Veritas Self-Paced Courses

A good friend introduced me to Veritas Press self-paced courses about this time last year, and I am so glad she did.  All four of my kids (with an age span of 5 – 10) eagerly tackle history with these wonderfully interactive lessons.  The best way for you to see for yourself is to see for yourself, with one of their free sample lessons.

They have 5 different courses:

  • Old Testament and Ancient Egypt
  • New Testament, Greece and Rome
  • Middle Ages, Renaissance, and Reformation
  • Explorers to 1815
  • 1815 to Present.

We have completed the Old Testament course and are currently working through the Middle Ages.  They offer recommended reading that corresponds to the time period, but we do these courses as a stand-alone curriculum.  We are often reading other books anyway, and it seems more stressful than helpful for me to try to coordinate our reading.

I am utterly amazed at how much my kids are learning and am unspeakably grateful that they enjoy history as much as they do as a result of these courses.

The price is a little steep $199, which gives 12-months of access to the course.  But at least twice a year they seem to offer a sale on these courses, dropping the price to $99.  I wait for the sale and then purchase.  You can delay the start of any program for up to a year as well, so you can purchase at a sale price, and even if you are in the middle of another history curriculum, you can postpone when your 12-month clock starts to any date of your choosing.  However, these lessons are so fun, your kids may thoroughly enjoy adding this to whatever you are already doing.

I hope you check it out and are blessed as much as we have been from them!
